Services for Veterinarians

  • Prescription food products - Eukanuba, Hill’s, Purina, and Royal Canin each make excellent prescription food products. A qualified nutritionist with no ties to any company can recommend the best prescription diet for your patient’s particular needs.

  • Which prescription food would be best for my patient? -There can be significant differences between similar use products among manufacturers. A professional, with knowledge of all products can identify differences to help you prescribe the most beneficial food.

  • New products – New prescription diets are introduced to the market regularly. New over-the-counter products are being introduced daily and busy practitioners may not be able to stay abreast of new products, nutrition research results, or what supplements are safe and effective.

  • Home-prepared diets - The popularity of home-cooked diets is increasing. The diets your clients are using can be analyzed to determine nutrient content, unbalanced diets can be corrected, or new, balanced diets, can be formulated for your patients.

  • No commercial product meets your patient’s needs - There are times when a commercial prescription diet is not available, such as chronic pancreatitis cases with renal disease, or perhaps a food allergic dog with renal disease. Additionally, some dogs and cats will not accept the available commercial prescription foods. Custom formulated, fully balanced diets can be formulated to support the management of medical conditions.

  • Multiple medical conditions – Some of these cases can be difficult to feed. We can make sound nutrition recommendations or “best possible” suggestions for managing these complicated cases.

  • Parenteral nutrition – Partial parenteral nutrition, administered peripherally, is very easy to accomplish in your veterinary practice. Total parenteral nutrition is sometimes needed. Formulations can be provided to you or to your compounding pharmacist to provide the proper nutrient ratios for your critical care patients.
